John,
The Drake Motel is still there at 420 Murphysboro Rd with its 96 rooms and it has seen its better days according to some of the reviews on one of the travel web pages but if you go to Goggle it comes right up. They claim it is "Where the Stars Stay," well maybe they did when Jim was still around!
