The world premiere of our new feature entitled "HAG: The Story of the Hassidic Actors Guild," whose motto is "Pay Us for Payos," took place june 22 at the Jewish Music Cafe in Park Slope. JMC director Eli Masias sais, "The laffs were non-stop from start to finish, proving that the media is a mechaya..." The film focuses on the exploitds of Yisrael Lifschutz, who served as actor and/or consultant (and sometimes insultant)
on such Features as "The Chosen," "Stranger Among Us," "A Price Above Rubies," "Keeping the Faith," "Brooklyn Babylon," and "Pi," (also one of the producers for the latter), and such tv fare as PBSS "Civization and the Jews," and "Unsolved Mysteries;" and cablecasts including "Saturday Nite Chai."
Lifschutz, aka Izzi, is the self-appointed ombudsman to safeguard the media portrayal of Jews, in general, and Hassidim, in particular,
locks horns with producers and directors, whilegenerating widespread criticism within the Jewish community for his participation and all too transparent self-serving interests, leading to the excommunication of Izzi and his HAGmen...if interested in bookling HAG call 718-318-1535 or 917-499-5381...or writed levariz@aol.com
p.s. the film does have a happy ending
