I was wondering if you happen to know the name of an independent film I
saw about ten years ago.
If I am remember the story correctly--It was made about 30 years earlier
by a guy who later became a film professor at New York University Film
School. His students found it and liked it so much that they had it
distributed. It is a comedy about a small-time, Jewish gangster who
gets out of prison and tries to reclaim his drug-selling territory. A
couple of the subplots included his finding out he had a daughter with
an accompanying, odd-ball family and his testifying at some sort of
televised govt. hearings on crime. It ends at some sort of charity
benefit where he gets drunk and accidentally donates all of his money.
It had some very interesting character actors that I had never seen
before or haven't seen since. Ring any bells? If it does, please let me
know. I am interested in getting a copy if possible.
