Posted by Lark The term "self-initiation" is a misnomer. You cannot "initiate" yourself. What you can do, and what you apparently did, is what is known as a "dedication". There is nothing wrong with such a dedication..in fact it is an important step for anyone to make and it should never be undertaken lightly. You will find that if you use the term "self-initiation" people aren't apt to take you very seriously as if you use the term dedication to describe what you did. -Lark-

The way to be properly initiated is to study with an established coven, successfully complete their training program, and then to undergo their formal initiation ritual.
