While Wicca is not specifically Celtic many groups have adopted some Celtic beliefs into their practices. Interestingly enough until 1719 Christians placed the New Year in March, so the idea of celebrating the New Year in the spring was a Christian idea rather than a Pagan one. -Lark-

Where did you hear that Wiccans celebrate the New Year on April 1st? That is the first time I have ever heard that claim in my 20 years as a Wiccan?
