I thought I would try to give a little insight First weather it be a set of Runes, Tarot Cards, A Pendulum, Tea leaves ect... Divination Tools in Wicca are oracles that are used to commune with the Goddess and God, spirit guides and other elemental forces within nature. Remember working with runes or cards takes a lot of pratice and effort but the outcome is worth it. I use Cards, Runes,and the Pendulum, and find that the best meathod of divination is the one that feels the most natural to the individual Witch. NO you do not have to be a witch to use divination. Anyone can do it just as everyone has the ability to use magick and cast spells or eat and drink. Ok, now on to Energy and Power.
There are generaly 3 types of energy used in Wicca. First energy from the Self or "personal energy" The second is energy from the Earth or "earth energy" found in herbs stones ect.. the third being from the Goddess and God or "Divine energy" You already have enough natural personal Energy to use divination effectively. When A Wiccan Casts a Spell we use and combine all three of these energies and direct them toward a specific goal for a needed change to the Astral to become manifest in the physical. (As above, So below) When a christian prays they are taking personal energy and mixing it with divine and sending it toward a needed goal for needed change. So are they casting a spell when they pray? Yes! Now A Wiccan gains power slowly with the Wisdom and knowledge and responsibility to use it in positive ways. The one who practices negative magick may gain power quickly but will not learn the means to use it for they tend to want to Contain and Control and cauce harm in the process and will burn themselves out in the process. This is where the Threefold Law in Wicca comes into play but more on that later.
