I contacted ESPN and asked them where the heck Rusty was and when would he be back and this is the response I got.
Former Cup champion Rusty Wallace will provide coverage for ESPN and ABC during this year's IndyCar Series starting on May 27th, as well as other selected Nextel Cup races. Rusty is constantly updating and upgrading his Web site at rustywallace.com. We suggest you check it out!
I went to Rusty's website but I didn't see anything about his "current status" but did find this, see link.

Unless I'm blind in one eye and can't see out of the other (which is possible) I didn't see anything related to Rusty's current status with ESPN. I think I'll contact ESPN again and tell them I want him in NASCAR. I do watch the Indy series but not as closely as I do NASCAR.
