i lost at least three levi jackets in my teens, early 20s
to whisky & song to the best of my recollection
but i believe occasionally wine & roses
& even though the pockets were already full
often spilling out in fact
but every time i took a step the other way
i would hesitate
& when asked to choose
which direction i would prefer
i was speechless
though it wasn’t all that difficult a question
because much of the time
it boiled down to two answers
& they were as different as night & day
or a similar easy comparisons
i suppose i should mention
that i always found them missing
late morning, early afternoon
whenever i could drag myself
back into the world
& i haven’t worn a levi jacket
since a girlfriend took the liberty of losing
the last one for me
