Nor is he crippled — as the story progresses, Shadow is only slightly behind in his development, largely due to having his legs broken and hence costing him that amount of time for his legs to develop normally. After the fight he's more than capable of walking. The fight itself was more for the sake of giving the two a good comparison (and Shadow some payback) than it was about asking who'd win. Shadow for example is wholly capable of flying, while Spyro can still only glide. It's not that one is 'good' and one is 'evil'; just two sides of the same coin. That said, Spyro doesn't get along with himself very well, especially when Shadow's worried about Spyro trying to take Reena, and Spyro's intellectual development has been so stunted in comparison to Shadow's.
