Posted by Captain Spyro Moving on... The demo is made of of four playable parts: 2 Spyro level, a Hunter level, and a Sgt. Byrd level. Gameplay: First off, the gameplay is a significant improvement over Enter the Dragonfly. Spyro moves with little to no framrate loss at all. Also, Spyro's movement are more animal-like, seeming somewhat rabbit-like. However, one minor complaint is that the buttons that control his flame and charge have been switched. On the other hand, I got used to that rather quickly, so it's not a bother for me. Hunter and Sgt. Byrd were also very easy to control. Hunter, as you all know, carries a bow and is quite the excellent sniper, if you will. His hand-to-hand combat isn't bad either.Sgt. Byrd's levels are reminiscent of the flight levels of the first Spyro game. You have certain objectives that you have to complete in a certain amount of time. And he also has unlimited ammo. Graphics: Once again, a BIG improvement over ETD. The levels are colorful and look great. While they may not be perfect, they still look great. Breakables, trees, buildings, all the works. And I didn't even notice any framerate loss. The characters are astounding as well. They're movements are captured greatly and their words actually match the movements of the mouth. This was something that greatly annoyed me in ETD. I love the conversations between the characters. As I said, the words actually match the movements of the mouth. Also, another thing that caught my eye was the environment morphing. When I destroyed that one dark gem, the land turned from an evil-like dark to a more good/light place. Impressive. Music/Sound: The voice work here is extraordinary. Surprisingly, I don't miss Tom Kenny as much as I thought I would. This new voice for Spyro sounds a lot like Carlos Alazraqui from the first game. The other voices featured are great as well. It's hard to describe the music. It sounds somewhat like Stewart Copeland; however, I can't confirm that. Other Notes: Besides the buttons for flam and charge being switched, there isn't that much else to add. The demo does have a time-out, so don't be surprised if it quits. Also remember, this is a demo, so it most likely isn't the finished product. Final Thoughts: To put it bluntly, I enjoyed the demo IMMENSELY. It reminded me a whole lot of the first game, yet upgraded. While there isn't anything particularly groundbreaking, Spyro fans should enjoy game, IMO.
