My gggrandfather Joseph Perrin was born in Cowes IOW in about 1824, married in 1843 and next pops up in the records in Victoria, Australia in 1857 when his son Charles was born.
The info that I have is:
Joseph Perrin b. Cowes, Isle of Wight, abt 1824
Married Betsy Whitten, Cowes Isle of Wight, 1843
(This info is on Charles’ birth certificate)
1857 Son Charles born Woolshed, Victoria (on Charles birth cert 3 other living children but no record of their births or names in Australian BDM records)
(Woolshed was a gold rush town – near Ned Kelly bushranger country)
Charles went to Young, New South Wales (also a gold mining town) and married Rose Anne Briggs in 1883. They had 8 children and then deserted Rose Anne to raise the chn on her own.
No records found so far for :
Charles' death, Betsy’s death or Joseph’s birth or death.
Do any of these names sound familiar? Any suggestion as to where to next?
I’m happy to share any info that I come across.
