Posted by Anna Hepburn Trying to research my family, hope someone can help. My GG grandfather was an Arthur Stanley, a retired mining engineer, and he was married to a Martha stanley (nee Tasker. She was South African). Their children were Marion, Arthur, Alfred (my G grandfather), Evelyn and Marguerite. Apparently Arthur Sr worked at the Esplanade hotel, Ryde. In the 1901 census they were living in Argyll Street, Ryde (Arthur sr wasn't there) but in 1897 they were in George Street. There was also a Martha Knott who was sister in law to Martha. My gran thinks perhaps it had been Arthur Stanley Knott. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this family either before or after 1900. Many thanks, Anna.
