Hi,
Dungewood farm was (and still is - just) located just to the south of the village of Shorwell on the South West side of the island. I know this as MY family lived there in the 1840s. I have some pictures of the rather dilapidated farmhouse as it is now.
ps you must be the same Alan Munford that emailed me today about a possible JAMES connection. Talk about a coincidence.
My GG Grandfather Henry Russell from Dungewood Farm, Shorwell married Martha James from Kingston (Just across the fields) in January 1849. Martha's father was called James James - how original ! I have the Mariage Cert if you would like a scan.
I'm now living in Norfolk where its just started snowing.
Anyway, look forward to your replies
Phil.
