Gamekeepers at Osborne

Family "legends" put my great great grandfather, John Shakspear, born 1816, at Osborne House as gamekeeper to Prince Albert. It was obviously a family business as his grandson Andrew Fergusson was also supposedly a gamekeeper at Osborne (after 1903).
Can anyone advise me as to how I can check - possibly by staff records for Osborne House. Neither of them was either born or died on the Isle of Wight.
Any help gratefully received!!
