In the front of my family bible there is a listing of "4th January 1873, Brig Valid Wrecked All Crew drowned". I have found that this took place off Cahle Bay & the bodies of five of crew listed as "unknown" in the Isle of Wight Record office were buried in Chale church yard.
Would anybody be able to look up in the church records or find the graves of the crew in the churchyard buried on the 7th January 1873.
The family name could of been Spanner, Underwood or Summerbee. I have not been able to find out who the relative was who drowned.
Any help would much be appreciated.
Thank You
Wendy
