Hi, I have just been informed that my gt,gt,grandfather James Dore born 1811 was from the I.O.W Newchurch wife Harriett surname unknown second wife Sarah Duffin (nee cook)I.O.W
I have been reading your info and I think William was his grandfather? they all seem to come from Newport/Newchurch area James had 7children. I would be interested to see if you or others are related many thanks Chrissie.

: Last summer I started reaching out to all
: DORE
: researchers and would like to again ask for
: people to chime in. My goal is to sift thru
: all the numerous Dore families and organize
: contacts for about 4 main groups. Please
: review the surnames and let me know where
: you think yours belong
the focus is mostly
: prior to 1850
Im happy to share contact
: info and/or email records that might help
: further everyones research. I want to see
: DOREs documented from IOW and hopefully if
: we all cooperate we can push this along!
:
: Group A
: These are DOREs mostly out of Norton,
: Freshwater & Yarmouth
especially those
: that married into Atkins, Boyer, Brett,
: Bright, Cammel, Comes, Dibbens, Gould,
: Groves, Gunn, Guy, Keat, Kent, Pell, Ralfs,
: Toogood, Williams, Woodford,
:
: Group B
: This is another DORE group from
: approximately the same area (Norton,
: Freshwater & Yarmouth) but we cannot
: figure out a link
includes marriages into
: Allen, Baldwin, Brett, Capell or Cassell,
: Day, Dickenson, Galpen, Gunn, Gyer, Harvey,
: Johnson, Jollifffe, Lacey or Lacy, Lane,
: Moorey, Percy, Mitchell, Passey, Potter,
: Richards, Salter, Scovell, Shilton, Snow,
: Steeven, Theobald, Toogood, Trickett, Waite,
: Wall, White, Willyar, Woodford,
:
: Group C
: Another DORE line that is mostly from a
: different location (Brook, Shalfleet,
: Brixton) would be Dores that married into
: Adams, Atkey, Cheverton, Crew, Dallimore,
: Dyer, Granger, Hollis, Holston, Horlock,
: Jacobs, Lovett, Manns, Pickerel, Pleyer,
: Snuddden, Thearll ,Ward,
:
: Group D
: This is going to be the miscellaneous
: file
for any and all DORE families that we
: just havent figured out where they belong.
: The only qualification Id ask for is that
: families are on the IOW prior to 1850
names
: we are finding include marriages into Allen,
: Butcher, Cheek or Chick, Collyer or Collier,
: Cooke, Downer, Dunning, Harvey, Hawkins,
: Hookey, Leal, Matthews, Slater, Smith,
: Snudden, Stone, Wareham, Wheeler

: Hello Sandy
:
: The only Dore I have on my tree at the
: moment is William Dore 'now of Shorwell,
: late of St Andrews, Holborne, batchelor'
: (marriage entry in register), who in 1762
: married Sarah Thearle in Shorwell, IoW. She
: was born approx 1723.
:
: Other names I have are Horlock, Adams,
: Harvey, Collier/Collyer and Downer. My main
: interest is Thearle (along with all its
: spelling variations).
:
: Sarah
