I've had chronic invisible illnesses for many years. I'm in my 50's and am feeling like some of my friends are just giving up on me. It's very depressing. It really surprises me, as they had known me as a very motivated and generally happy and friendly person before my illnesses. In fact, I was known as one of the most energetic in the crowd. I have Interstitial Cystitis and also fibromyalgia - the fibro developed after I was hit by a car as a pedestrian and my muscles have never been the same. I still have friends I talk with - it's not like I have no one to talk to. Yet, it's really changed the relationship. It got worse once I could no longer drive (due to foot surgeries gone bad). I think people are afraid I'll be asking them to drive my everywhere - but I would not. I have set up rides with a service here to go to dr. appt's and such. How do you deal with the loss of friends and their not understanding it all - if this has happened to you? Thanks
