Posted by Dana Currently, my IC is a male. This same male counselor for me is also our MC. However, my H has a different IC who is also a male. Was that confusing?? Anyway, I've been thinking about changing to a different IC for me. The counselor I see now is very nice, and seems knowledgable on the topic, but I sometines feel I'm not getting anywhere. I've felt "stuck" for a while. My IC is a good listener, and certainly validates a lot of what I say to him. That's all good, right? He has made some small suggestions related to self-help books, audio CD's, etc., BUT I feel like I really need someone more agressive to say, "Now this is what you need to do..." or "Here's something that will help you get unstuck..." Maybe my expectations of a counselor are too high. Maybe I'm unrealistically looking for a magical answer. I don't know. I just wish someone could help me better with grabbing that bull by the horns!! Would a female counselor be any different, or does it just really depend on the counselor's personality in the way they practice and not their gender?

Just wondering if anyone out there prefers a male or female for counseling them on their infidelity issues. If you are a female, do you prefer a female counselor? Does it matter if you are the BS or the WS as to whether you prefer a male or female?
