Sorry I have not tried that ball diff so im not familiar with its working ... but normally if a diff wont let one tire spin it means it is bound up somewhere or you did not build it correctly or it has a design flaw. My guess is that it is bound up some how can you re-build it carefully using the orig. instructions that came with the package? Or try to return it to you local hobby store and buy the kyosho diff, I have been using that one for about 2 years now and I have never had any trouble other then having to re-build it every now and then to clean and grease it.
