We're just trying to get the word out about a rescue center in our home town
unfortunatly I couldnt get inside the barn photos
This is Orchard Park Rescue Center (6325 Cole Rd.) Orchard Park, NY
There is no quartine space, 13 stalls with 35+ horses on the property
Strangels and mange infesting the horses & poor care. most of the horses live 2-3 horses per stall, tied in the isle's on concrete floors or live out in very deep muddy/manure pastures.
I know its spring, but pastures have been like that long before now
I was a boarder there, my horses were abused by the owner, she would hit or "jump" at them to spook them
(I was told by a staff member, who i never met, but contacted me through Facebook one day to tell me)
our horses where put in horrible situations, stalled with rescues and badly beat up & a complete health risk as they all got strangles ( barn owner called it a staph infection & it wasnt importiant to call the vet) also mange, scratches, wounds & (lice, i believe as my poor filly is ripping her furr out) & caked in manure/mud.
They were left in the pastures on bad winter days with no blankets & high winds, shivering & soaking wet. little hay in the pastures & frozen water.
There is a picture of a horse that is pastured in the MANURE PEN!
a few volenteers from the rescue contacted me not to long ago to help protest this "rescue" since i was a past boarder & theses pictures are from her. As the barn has only gotten worse, a horse was put down sadly while she was there from neglect.
A old owner of a rescue horse was appauled by these pictures & came to re-rescue her pasture pet only to find he was in worse conditions. She took him home, the vet came & unfortunatly that horse was put to sleep on the spot. he went to the barn in good condition.
We have 2 vets on our side, past boarders including myself, the many volentieers that came and gone from that place in the last 2 months and its only getting worse.
This barn owner has to many higher friends in the spca & law enforcement
So we the people are gathering to fight for theses horses health & safty.
As the SPCA just sends us to the supervisors voive mail or tells us they cant find the place
We have called everyone we can think of and who ever we can think of and now where reaching out as far as we can!
