Hi Lindsay -- I have a wonderful 10 year old Pinto named Buddy who really needs to be ridden more often and we live by Mendon Ponds Park. You can ride on the flat trails in the winter. He has gone through Parelli training - first level. He was untrained 2 years ago, but is Mr. mellow in the park and with jumping barking dogs, joggers running towards him etc.
He necks reins, and you keep a slack rein with him. He loves following deer trails, and will willingly go over logs, around trees, up and down steep hills. We placed 4th in the Wyoming Country Mounted Patrol trail Trial this August (after he had not been ridden for a month) and we placed 3rd in the Equicenter Trail Trial in June. I have 2 saddles -- a treeless endurance or a Tucker Western. We typically ride as long as its 30+ with sunshine and no wind. There is another horse that may be available as well. Let me know if you might be interested.
