Hi Lilly! I'm a volunteer at the rescue, so i'll attempt to answer some of your questions. When you ask if adopting a rescue horse is cheaper than buying a horse from a private buyer are you asking about the initial placement fee/purchase cost? The placement fee that Rescues ask for isnt generally high, but it is a way that they can get a small fraction of the money that have spent on that horse back, to use for the horses still at the rescue. The initial cost whether you adopt or buy from a private seller will generally be different from horse to horse. Remember, that the initial cost of the horse is always the cheapest part of owning a horse. Board, upkeep, vet bills, farrier care, worming, vaccinations, tack, etc, will be far more expensive than what someone spends to purchase or adopt the horse. Taking care of horse will cost 2-3 thousand dollars a year. More, if any vet emergencys arise. (injuries, sickness).
: me and my friends will be getting riding
: lessons in the summer and she'll be getting
: horses in about a year or so and i was
: wondering if getting a nice friendly rescue
: horse would be a good idea and if it would
: be even a little bit cheaper or does it just
: depend on the breed and size.
: thanks bye
