
Posted by Michele on 4/15/2007, 11:37 pm, in reply to "Re: Looking for a horse farm in TN" if you want to still be able to help out a rescue there are things you can do other than going out to the rescue itself and working there. maybe team up with one of the rescues that you found and try to have fundraising events at your college and/or have a info booth. basically, you can help them do PR and fundraising, without being able to physically volunteer. Do you have a car? even tho the closest rescue is an 1 1/2 from you, maybe you can go once a month or something like that. Also, maybe you can find someone to carpool with, or meet up with a volunteer that is halfway btwn you and the rescue to save some money. just some ideas. btw, i live about an hour from HORSE and I volunteer every other week. so i understand what its like having to drive so far. but its so worth it getting to know the horses and learning so much! good luck! If there are no rescues located near you, perhaps local riding stables/barns would be willing to let you work there? You can probably get paid or get free riding in exchange for your work. that way u can still be around horses.
