Posted by Pam Vania I have a very special gelding that is seeking a wonderful home. He came from a bit of a rough situation. He came to me in June of 06 - thin, not very well taken care of. He has come a long way in really a short time. He was not thrilled with us when he first came, afraid of us. He is no longer afraid of us and has actually turned into a big puppy dog looking for attention. He is fairly easy to handle, but can get upset easily in new situations, with the right handling he can be calmed very quickly. Digger has never been formally backed. We have been told he was used as a trail horse. Only to the extent that he has had a saddle (w/rider) and halter and lead ropes on and would just follow the horse in front of him. He is an eager student and loves to please. My 16yr old daughter has saddled him and got on him in the pasture, he just does not know what to do once asked. Once he trust you, you can ask anything of him and he will try to do it. He is just uneducated. I believe with the right person he could be the best horse anyone could own. Just would not be a good beginner horse. Reason I am looking for a home is I have two young men(6yr and 14yr) in my family that have come to me with a strong desire to learn how to ride. Unforunately I do not have any thing for them to ride, so I must find a home for one of my horses to make room for a beginner trail horse. He is passive and can get bullied in the pasture. He is an easy keeper, just eats good hay and has put on 150-200lb since he has been here. He has had his feet trimmed regular, and wormed regular, and teeth done since he has been here. Because of unmanaged feet he is not completely sound. He is slightly off when lunging clockwise on his front left foot. Any other time he shows no soundness isses. Farrier states that he could be just sore because of the mosit ground we had earliy this year (I have not seen any soundness isses since then) He just flinches a bit with the hoof testers on his toe of the left foot. He is a beautiful boy and has a big kind heart.. just needs fine tuning. ;o) Pics avail through email at ashacresfarm@yahoo.com Located in Clarendon NY just south west of Brockport. To assure his safety I will only give a life time lease on him. He may not be shuffled around and fate not known. Thanks for your understanding. Kindest Regards, Pam Vania
