Posted by Steven Wood on 24/9/2007, 11:28 pm But in another blow to Channel Nine's internationally-successful children's pop talent show, another fellow band member Tim Harding has now also quit in the wake of his recent bike accident at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway (You can read more about the latest behind-the-scenes drama at Hi-5 by clicking on the link below). It is understood the decision to replace Jones and Harding with much younger cast members from outside the established cast members own mature age range was made because Nine Network executives did not like the idea of newcomers from outside the 21-24 age group joining in. Remaining band members - Nathan, Kellie and Charli - are left to carry on with Sun and with Tim's new replacement, Steven Nicholson, who is now the youngest member of the cast - but producers like the new diversity, never mind the behind-the-scenes friction. I shall never forget the times when I met Tim in person at the 3 Hi-5 concerts I attended back in September 2002, January 2003 and January 2004. He was always very courteous and always full of smiles (and a wink or two from the stage), but I was quite surprised by his tall athletic build, especially when I had my photo taken with him and Charli. I appreciate Tim's input and support up til this time and congratulate him for his long-serving commitment to the Hi-5 project. I also wish him a speedy recovery from his recent motorbike injuries. So far, Nathan, Kellie and Charli - together with newcomers Sun Park and Steven Nicholson - are sticking with what is looking increasingly like the Titanic of top-rated kids' shows.

Struggling Hi-5 has already parted ways with Kathleen Jones as a band member due to her new commitments to motherhood and enlisted a much younger Sun Park as her replacement in the cast in a bid to save the show.
