Nationwide, have kept our deeds since the mortgage was completed in 2006. Our solicitor suggested they should keep them, so they retrieved them from Nationwide. He then discovered that Nationwide had not removed the charge when he checked the Land Registry. Nationwide have apoligised and said it was an oversite and corrected it. Best to check with Land Registy, I think the fee for this is £8.00
