"Houston, we have a problem! Not all of us had a barber flatten us out before liftoff"...but William Oefelein sure did, and he looks flat-tastic! In honor of Rocket Man Bill's 44th birthday on March 29th, I'm saluting Mr. Oefelein as my Flattop Friday Flattopper of the Week.
Bill joined the US Navy in 1988, attended TOPGUN (the US Navy Fighter Weapons School) and served overseas deployments to the Persian Gulf as a fighter pilot. In June 1998, Mr. Oefelein was selected by NASA for their astronaut program. On December 9, 2006, William became the first Alaskan astronaut in space...when he served as the pilot for the STS-116 mission. "Billy-O" logged over 308 hours in space. Mr. Oefelein left NASA in May 2007, and later retired from the US Navy in November 2008 at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. William has logged over 2000 hours in more than 50 aircraft, and has over 200 carrier arrested landings.
After reviewing these flattering Flattie photographs of Mr. Oefelein, I'm sure that you'll be as astro-nuts about his Flattop as I am. It's ten seconds to liftoff...so you better get yourself to a barber fast, and have him flatten you out!
Billy-O, I think that your Flattop is out of this world! [:-)
Buzz Aldrin Wishes & Flattop Dreams!
llllllllll
