I've had a horseshoe flat with shaved back and sides for years and years. I've always seen it for what it is, at least to me. But most other people, it appears, have only observed it as "shaved." I found this out recently when I lost all my hair to chemotherapy: I've been totally depressed by the loss, but everyone else (including my partner) keep telling me I don't look any different!
Now that it has finally started to grow back, I feel much better. (It'll be quite a while until I have the horseshoe again.) But hardly anybody notices that I have hair again. So I guess you could chalk tho whole experience up to my obsession, LOL.
