With the rain hitting right as I was about to go out today, I just missed getting to Classic Cuts before they closed at 2:00, so I decided to give Cut Above another try and I'm glad I did. The chick who butchered me last time didn't last there after all, and he's got another barber now, a guy maybe in his 40s, extremely well-groomed, slicked-back hair, short grey goatee. I'm also glad I didn't dawdle about it, because they close at 3:00 on Saturday, not 4.
It was kind of funny when I walked in--the shop was empty and I took my time hanging up my coat, waiting to see who would offer me the chair, but all three of them just sat there waiting to see who I wanted. I went with Joe, since he treated me so well before. He did just what I wanted with great precision, and even seemed a little disappointed that I didn't find any adjustments to ask him for! The new guy seemed very curious about how he'd do such a short cut leaving the length in the front. I hope that means he'll know what I want if I wind up with him next time, and not that he'll try to convince me of what's wrong with it.
I still can't believe it's taken 9 months to grow out to the cut I chose specifically to avoid spending all my time thinking about it. I think I'll have to keep it the same for a whole year to come out ahead on that score.
