With my recon patch flattop and my partner's all-over equal buzz, our barber was quite honest with us: "I can't take your money when I'm not doing anything!"
So ... we have been doing our own for a long time. Nope, not the same experience and not the perfect definition. But I'd rather put that money elsewhere.
These days, I will let myself get pretty shaggy on vacations [we'll be up to the Cape 2x this summer!] then check in at the Capital Hill USMC barbershop when we get back to DC. They do a great job, re-establish the contours, and I handle the task at 2x/week intervals until the next vacation.
