Thanks for the kind words gentlemen... Yes I've been a 'do it yourself' barber for a while. Sometimes I try a new shop, and sometimes I live dangerously and try the barber college, but usually I do it myself. The best way, for me anyway, to cut the top, is to go from back to front. This way you can see where the clippers is going, and it's easier to get it level... I spike it up with butch wax, and give it a few passes to make sure I get all the 'renegades'. And I try not be too picky, cuz I usually end up making things worse if I try to be perfect... sorta like a lot of things in life, eh?
