Posted by Colin on 19/10/2007, 15:14:04 Last time I tried to go see Steve, he was on vacation; this week I tried to go see Joe at Steve's after work, and now he was on vacation! So I made the time to go there in the morning yesterday. Steve had stepped out for a moment, and he had a woman with a brand new barber license in the third chair. Since Steve already had someone waiting, I figured I'd trust him and give her a try. She was very good about paying attention to what I wanted, and unlike the last bimbo she had no trouble with the words "top" and "front," and she even made sure to ask before touching my already too-short eyebrows. But when it came to the actual cutting, boy, was she clueless! No idea of tapering anything closer than a #1, and she had a delusion that she could cut the top shorter than a half-inch entirely with scissors. She did trim up the edges nicely and give an outline shave, and she had a very smooth touch with the razor--but then she nicked a pustule almost an inch away from where she was shaving, and didn't have any styptic to stop it, only talc. Unfortunately, when I made a quick mirror check before leaving for the day, it seemed to look OK so I didn't mess with it. By the time I got home late at night, it was clear it was a total mess. Out came my clippers again this morning. Well, at least this time I didn't lose any more time on growing out the front! I just hope Steve's eye was better than mine yesterday and he doesn't take down that BARBER WANTED sign and keep her on.

why some of you have such a thing against women barbers. If my past experience had been anything like this, I would too!
