Posted by Gunny DR and I arrived there at about 11:30 AM on Wendesday, his second day in operation. There were 7 ahead of us and we passed on. Today (Thursday) coming back from P-Town we stopped again. Still there were four ahead, but this time we waited. Took two hours. But was worth it. He is alone, but you have to see this man work!! It is work, but he operates with the ease of a mountain cat, swift, "deadly", but in his case willing to please. DR got a shave HT and I went for the shaved head. We were not the only "older men" waiting, he also accomodated a few long haired 70s hold overs. But with the "kids" we witnessed marvelous transformations from mop heads to fades!! In addition a couple black men were waiting for him. But it is the small things that he does that are unheard of most places. He spends time on eyebrows, ear and nose hair, even on 20-30 somethings. Everyone gets at least a razor neck shave from his hot lather machine (more if called for, he did an outline beard for one kid) -- he told one kid he buys disposable razor blades by the case. For the kid with the outline beard he even tilted the chair back and added a facial shave. Everyone gets a witch hazel rub down and a hot towel to finish things off. Beyond that, he has a couple things I've never seen a barber do before. It they are things salons do I wouldn't know. One kid had a natural "unibrow" -- he not only shaved between and sculpted but he used what looked like dental floss to finish off the clean up. When it comes to ear hairs he uses what looks like the butane lighters we use to start the gas grill to burn them away before he trims (won't grow back as quickly or as thick he told me). In my case I warned him I believed I had enough "fuel" for a forest fire, but it worked well. This man virtually runs around the shop tending to all this -- like taking clean towels from a shelf, soaking them and putting them into a towel warmer -- while still cutting hair. On top of all this he is as gracious as they come -- what the customer wants is what makes him happy -- tell him how you want it and he will accomodate. This is the barber of dreams!! And, although I never was told what all this cost, I got the impression that $15 bucks covers everything from a standard cut to a fade with lined beard, or a head shave! Ain't that a hoot!! But, I'm happy for this man. Everyone there, young and old, appeared to be leaving him a $20 bill and saying keep the change. He is simply spectacular!! Check him out if you are ever in the area and have the time -- it looks like it will always be a long wait. He's at 56 Main Street, Orleans, near what is referred to as Post Office Square. I only wish that I lived closer to him.

If ever in Orleans on Cape Cod, look him up. He once worked as an apprentice at Roger' in Wellfleet. It's been a few years. But he is now established in his own new shop in Orleans and is doing spectacularly.
