Posted by Colin on 25/5/2007, 16:04:52 As it turns out, I have just enough of each of the Super Max 3 and Fusion blades left, if I ration them precisely, to get me through to when I plan to start growing out next month. I went ahead and bought more Fusion blades to keep using on my face, but the question of buying more Super Max razors to make sure I don't run out is really nagging at me. Not over the cost, obviously, at $5 for the 8-pack. It's just whether having them sitting there would make me dwell uneasily on shaving all the time, or whether it'd just be a healthy encouragement next time I want to go bald--hopefully not another 18 years off! I suppose I could circumvent both issues by going to the other store that only has them packaged singly and buying just one to keep me going. It'll be interesting, next time I do go bald, to see whether it takes six months again to feel this natural or I just fall into it right away.

The times I've shaved my head in the past, I didn't think it took any more than a week or two to get adjusted. But I realized recently that there was another stage I'd never reached before, and that's being comfortable unshaven. It's as though baldness was a costume I put on every morning, and having a day's stubble showing made me feel naked. Since around the start of this month, just about six months bald, it feels much more natural. I don't feel frantic about it anymore if I'm running late, and can make a calm decision of whether to take the time to shave or go ahead and leave. When I miss a morning, I'm happy shaving in the shower at night and skipping the next morning too.
