Just had coffee and tostada with a German,Portuguse, and Spanish trio here in Sevilla. They were all upset about this but totally blame the violent culture of the US. They too mentioned that this is tragic but also something that happens other places too. It is interesting that when we are talking in general there is generally no problem with them saying that the US is really making terrible decisions around the world. Yet when something like this happens they do genuinely feel sorry for us. Despite our failure to address global warming and ecological issues not to mention our foreign policy there is still a wish by many here to have us somehow change for the better. Others clearly see us as the evil empire and these are Europeans. Ostensibly our allies. Pax Steve S/V Gandalf Sevilla or Portland Me.
