Posted by Butchwax I've been reading this site for a couple of years now, but have never posted before. Until recently, I didn't have a home internet connection and didn't think it was appropriate for me to post from work. (Although obviously I had no qualms about visiting) Anyway, this subject really hit home with me. About 10 years ago my Mom was cleaning underneath the bathroom sink at the old family home and found a 1/2 full jar of Lucky Tiger butchwax from the early sixties that was for me and my brother. Needless to say, my folks are packrats and hoarders. At that time, Dad was still hauling us down to the MCRD once a month to get our crewcuts squared away.(25 cents for dependents!) I got the jar from her and then had a very similar experience when I opened the jar for the first time and inhaled that perfume. Scent is a powerful emotional trigger and I was flooded with memories and feelings. I instantly reconnected with my inner 14 year old self. And I was really surprised to find that years later, the smell was powerfully erotic. I hope saying that doesn't cross the line of what's acceptable here, but it's the God's truth and why I finally feel compelled to post on the site. Since then, I've been buying up butchwax whenever I can find it. I've got a pretty good collection and even have a couple of NOS jars of Sandahl's Hair Care Regular Style Control Wax. There are no marks on the jar to date the glass, but the price printed on the lid is 60 cents! Anyway, great board and a real service to us men who still appreciate clipper short hair on ourselves and others, and relish the real barbershop experience. Get a haircut! You'll look better and feel great!
