Posted by Gunny The shop on the approach to the T -- our subway. In '80 I bought up their supply of Stendhal "butch wax". It had apparently been sitting in the showcase for about 20 years. It was important to me because it had the particular smell I associated with barbershops in my teen years. They did sell me what they had. Hell, they weren't using it. I took about five tubes off their hands that for them were just decoration. I was getting a hard-on buying it and all the men in shop would assume was that I was a barber myself with a lot of "old men" clients. Wouldn't those barbers who are now out of work or dead have been fascinated to know that flattops were simply in the process of being "reborn". I'll argue that man-hair dropped into "gutter" and died between '75 and '80. It has been given a "new life" within our history. Take heart, believe. Look around you and see how many old men look like graying, pony tailed "hippies". How many look like Bill Clinton "big haired" clones?? Both BAD by today's standards. Short cropped hair will REMAIN as the NORM long after the "kids" revert to the "Beatle look". Even if the "young" folk revert to "Star Child" flowing locks, it will NOT be the male norm for at least another 30. Ignore, no reject, the "fashion swings". Put "fashion" aside. We control the world!

An anecdote on how long this reversal has taken.
