Question for the UK folk

I just read a blog by an American woman who has been visiting your island home. She did not appear to be "into" men's hair. So, the fact that she commented on how "stylish" your men folk are came across as a reaction to something that she saw that was overwhelming to her.
What she said is that EVERY [her emphasis] man that she saw had something that can only be described in hair board terms as a "faux {mo} hawk".
Is this now a big thing in your part of the world? Hasn't "crossed the pond" as far as I know. Is it something I ought to live in terror of? .
