Posted by Gunny IF ... it is a BIG "if" -- Bush and the gang of three are repudiated by the American voters today it may have far reaching consequences into the future. Knee jerk "patriotism" may finally come to an end. If you have any concept of American history it will be a watershed if the populace votes to say "No" to a war still in progress, at least within such a limited time frame. Of course they said "No" to 'Nam, but it took them nearly two decades to do it. A vote today will be a repudiation of lies within two plus years. Congress will be emboldened. Too many congressional representatives voted for a trumped up, manufactured "defensse of the nation" two years ago. They now feel "burned". A complete "blow out" tommorrow is unfortunately unlikely. But if it should materialize then all bets based on history will be off. The 'Nam experience obviously did not stop this fiasco. But I can tell you that the next time a President "declares war" there will be many more politicos willing to stand up as say "no" and ask "why". I had hoped that 'Nam would have accomplished that in a single swift blow to misguided "patriotism", but apparently the lesson was not learned. This is a "defining moment". The outcome is far from certain. It may yet prove a disaster. But if Dubba and his war are repudiated then next time we may get back to reasoned debate in Congress. Hardly a man or woman in any position of power had the guts to oppose this war. They feared for their political lives. If the repudiation of deception is clear then the next time many of those folk or their successors will have the courage to say that it simply doesn't add up and that doesn't make me less an American. "Service" even putting you life on the line is admirable. There is a need for the true and the brave. But how and why we deploy them is the issue. Saddam Hussien was a despicable tyrant. He committed crime against humanity. He deserved to be deposed. But the issue from an American standpoint is whether or not our men were destined to do that job. I say no. At best it ought to have been more seriously debated in Congress. Repudiate Bush and his cohots today and you at very least limit the appeal of the "are you a patriot?" scam. VOTE!!

YOU are SO funny that I'm not even sure you are serious. But on the off chance that you are, I offer this thought.
