Posted by Gunny But in the "real world" I am astounded too. One day last week I started at a McDonald's where I get my fix to make the two hour trip to work less painful. There was an Air Force guy in cammies with an HT that in earlier times I would have identified as Ranger. A bit later the cop standing across from my building readjusted his cover to revel a skin head -- and since he was about 30 I don't think he was MPB. Still a bit later I saw a 30 something guy assisting an elderly parent/god parent? to a car with a deep black flat with a landing strip and well clipped sides that could have been direct out of 1962. (Ever considered? Why do so many who never lived prior to '75 remember the flat and the crew? Is it like once you learn to ride a bicycle you never forget? Is it ingrained in the male psyche?) And each day I emerge to greet folk with a bald head. The business men I now encounter have a large number of skin heads. I've reached the point where I am no longer shocked by lawyers in three-piece suits with clear intention to be crewcut. I saw six men, with children in tow during a 15 minute stop at the grocery store the same day with variations. A "boss" of my agency -- not someone I report to -- now shaves each day! Thanks to the Internet I believe the the current mix of well clipped hair out does the "Golden Years" of 55-63. I see them everywhere and in every possible venue. When you had a "fantasy" that developed in the 50s and 60s -- living in these days is truly the gift of my life. Appreciate it while you can. The kids with the Gothic piercings are next in line. Fashion is what fashion is. It will change. But for the moment it is spectacular stuff!

But I remain amazed at the number of decent clips I run into in a single day. I don't see many teens -- nature of my work. For the few of those I do see the ones that stand out catch my eye with bizarre purple Mohawks, piercings in nose, lip and eyebrow, female green nail polish on men, and absurd Billy the Goat facial hair. I can say one thing for them and only one -- they stand out in a crowd.
