OK, boys and girls. Here is how you modify your leadlight WITHOUT having to open it up. I popped off the power button with a penknife. I then started turning the small pot screw with a jewelers screwdriver, but noticed a small increase in power. While doing the adjustments, I noticed that there would be brief moments of VERY high output. I initially thought this was related to a dirty pot making partial contact, but I finally figured out that I was actually shorting the pot (which is metal) to the brass casing with the metal screwdriver! I then got a very small metal spring from a hardware store and slowly screwed it down thru the hole till it made contact with the pot and completed the circuit to the brass case edge. I then snipped off the excess exposed spring, and taped over the switch with a double layer of electrical tape. I now have a pointer that puts out about 30mW, and I didnt even have to take out a soldering gun or pliers! Thank you Leadlight!
