Hi Charlotte, I disagree, I'm black and the Golly represents what was and how the human race has moved on. It doesn't have to be seen as a symbol of oppression. I see it as a symbol of growth. I see it as a symbol of how my life could have been if I lived in another era and compare it to the comfortable life I live now and it helps me appreciate all I have. I don't find Gollies offensive and if anything when I have children I'll use one as a tool to open up the topic of discrimination and how to deal with it.
