SAVE OUR GOLLY!

I am 38 years old and fondly remember my golliwog my late grand mother knitted me and the labels off the jam jars to collect for a badge, it took for ever but what a joy it was when I received a tiny pin through the post.
I now have an 8 year old daughter, Alice. We went for a nice day out today to the Derbyshire Dales and visited the nice little gift shops there. In one of them was a large basket of different sized Gollies. Alice noticed them before me and said "Mum what are these?" It filled me with such sadness that the young generation are totally unaware of dear 'ole 'Golly. Without hesitation i got the £3.95 and bought her one, even though i'd already spent loads on her. She hasn't put him down yet. I've explained the sad story of why Golly disappeared for a few years, in her mind it was ridiculous, but still daredn't take him in Tescos on the way home. We say 'Go Golly, nice to see you making a comeback' For all of you out there who disagree, there are more important thing to worry about these days than a cute black, not brown, beamimg little doll.
