I can understand where people are coming from when they see the Golliwog as a negative stereotype of a colonial subject dressed up in European clothing (to my understanding that is the issue here). However I say this to the original sentiment expressed on this chain: The black colour of the golliwog is what makes him a beautiful doll! If you tried to make a doll just like him with bright white wool, all the texture and richness would be gone (oh and I'm sure albino people might be offended by such a doll as well). Maybe that puts a different perspective on the issue for you...I'll leave you to wallow in the shock that somebody actually hold this point of view rather than the negativ ones you seem so fixated on.
