SAVE OUR GOLLY!
Posted by Aaron on 4/15/2004, 12:34 pm, in reply to "White Golly" Now... Let's take a look at Raggedy Ann. She looks just like a golly to me. I remain unoffended. Gollies have meant many things to many people, and you seem only to see the negative. I think that your energy is mis-spent. Telling people who have had Love for what amounts to a black doll that they were wrong, is a foolish road to take. I don't want my son to think less of people because of the color of their skin. I will raise him to be openminded and caring. I may or may not get him a golly, but it will depend only on whether he wants one or not. Not because you cannot see the value of his love for the doll. Do not call people who can love something (without regard for it's color or origin) "fools." It is the white people that cannot love such dolls that you should find problem with. I hope you have a good day and a good life. - Aaron

That whites are the only people that have loved gollies is untrue. There is an Australian individual posted on this site that has posted that they feel otherwise. Further, I grew up in Britain with many friends of different backgrounds, and we all had gollies.
