If you DO check out the old Noddy books PROPERLY, you will find that ONE book shows a band of Golliwogs stealing Noddys car, the other 23 in the series show Gilbert Golly and his family, an upstanding citizen who owns the garage in town...There are afew books that portray the Golly as a villian, but they also portray white dolls as villians as well...ALL of the Florence Upton books show Golly as a HERO...
I don't agree with this racist rubbish at all..The Golly is no more portrayed as a bad role model, than other charactors, and no one wants to ban them...Raggedy Ann isn't exactly pretty, or the Cabbage Patch white dolls, are they racist as well, or is it ok cos they're white?
People need to get a grip, dolls that are black coloured are not automatically racists or bad...People who buy Gollies buy them because they love them, or why else would you have alot of dolls sitting around your house..To remind yourself you hate black? Dumb Dumb!!!! Must of us who had Gollies as kids remember them with affection, and THAT is always a good thing....
