Many old nursery rhyme books, Mother Goose even, had a rhyme called 10 Little Nigger Boys, and all of the illustrations use gollywogs. The fact of the matter is this. Gollywogs are racist. Plain and simple. You're playing with semantics and your trying to change history if you say that they aren't. Just because racism was a part of everyday life doesn't mean it wasn't racist.

It's not a question of whether things in the black community are more racist than a gollywog, it's whether or not gollywogs are inherently racist. I'm not saying we should erase history, I'm saying we should look at history for what it really was. People were racist, and it was common at the time, and we've grown and evolved as a society to see that it's not OK to be as openly racist as we were.
