Posted by Julia I drive past the old Lawson place on a regular basis....the house was located on Brookcove Road, near Watts Rd. The Browder family cemetary can actually be located on the GIS here: http://arcims2.webgis.net/stokes/default.asp, simply click on the ArcIMS GIS link, then search for parcel #694203026990. I *DO NOT* recommend actually visiting the cemetary, simply posting this here for reference. The re-release of "White Christmas, Bloody Christmas" will create enough stir.... The Lawson murders occurred almost 80 years ago...but there are still those in Walnut Cove that vividly remember that day. Aspects of what really happened and why it happened may never be completely known. It is, however, a very delicate topic to many of the "old-timers". A tragedy occured to those that were a part of the community and for some, it remains an open wound. Discussion of the topic is wonderful, but a respect is desperately needed for the surviving family and friends.

Hillbilly Joe...The Browder Cemetary where the Lawson's were buried is not far from the house...more than a few hundred yards, but still not far. It's difficult to locate, sits back in the woods and is only accessible from a narrow dirt road. There are at least two "Browder" Cemetaries in the area. Like many in the area, they were small, private cemetaries.
