Re: d&e gatling gun
Dennis, I have not worked on my gun for a while. These are a few of the things that interrupt. My daughter makes flowers from cloth covered wire and fabric. I started making a fixture that would twist the wire. While doing this I decided to repair the knee stop on my mill. Then I made a new handle for the y-axis stop. For years I have I have not been able to see the graduations on the compound slide dial on my lathe, so I fixed that. Then I decided to make a split nut for the compound slide as the original nut was not split. Made a few other minor things like a test dial indicator holder. Each time I repair something I find more to do. So back to the gun. Any thoughts about using ball bearings where you can on the gatling? I inserted a bearing into the cocking ring and I feel the barrel assembly moves smoother. I am going to make a cutter so I may insert a bearing into the rail front if I can locate a proper size so I do not have to make a new front rail. I like the feel of the brass and steel as the barrel assembly rotates. I have not got to making a bolt with a bearing instead of a lug yet. I made a few drawings and I believe it will work. Did you finish changing a left to a right? Maybe I can use that repair for Mistakes Inc.
