d&e gatlin gun"
Seem that when I think I solved one problem I find two more. It has been a long time since I last worked on this gun. I can not remember exactly what I did. After re-cutting the pan and getting the bolt and a cartridge to move smoothly the cartridge would not go into the barrel at the breech ring after I reassembled the gun. It seems that the top of the extractor is lower than the cartridge rim as it goes into the barrel preventing it from seating. The dimension is off more than the total dimension I left for clearance. The cartridge goes in at an upward angle and jambs. It would seem that the hole in the bolt carrier is at an angle. This would mean that I did not set up the dividing head properly. The correction would be to cut a new bolt carrier and pan carefully observing all measurements. Also the lead tip of the cartridge bites into the sharp edge of the barrel. I filed this edge off but I think a machined chamfer would be better.
